What is
Osteoporosis
The word ‘osteoporosis’ means ‘porous bone.’ Osteoporosis also known as “SILENT DISEASE” is characterized by low bone mass, deterioration of bone tissue, disruption of bone architecture, compromised bone strength, and an increase in the risk of fracture¹
This asymptomatic condition often remains undiagnosed until it manifests as a low-trauma fracture of the hip, spine, proximal humerus, pelvis, and/or wrist, which frequently leads to hospitalization²
Although osteoporosis is typically associated with women, it is also diagnosed in men, who have low BMD (Bone Mineral Density)
